Global warming...or cooling...

These recent temperature measurements which indicate a sharp fall in global temperatures may, or may not, be the first indication of another "Maunder Minimum" period of low sunspot activity, similar to the one that corresponded with the Little Ice Age. The folks who monitor these things say that the next year's trends will bear careful watching.

And before you say, "Great! No more global warming to worry about!", there's this to consider:
If these events continue and become a cycle of cooling, it represents a major threat to the Earth’s population because it means that food crops will fail and, with them, the means to feed livestock, and the rest of us.
Mix in the problems with honeybees, and the food supply might be in trouble, especially in resource-poor areas like many developing countries.

Oddly when I mentioned this in a recent discussion of global warming issues, there was a frenetic denial that there was any connection between the two, by the anti-global-warming people.

Reactionaries amuse me.

Pleased to see more and more people are learning about the solar situation. Keep spreading it around!

And get ready for it.
