I'd like to see one for Kashmir as well. Unfortunately, while both would be just for the peoples in question, the regional powers don't seem to deem it in their interests to allow that to happen.

Oh, that would be most excellent. And while we're hoping, perhaps Tibet can get onboard that referendum train.
It's still to early to tell, but a very recent Reuters story suggests
an alliance between Sistani's Shi'ite party and the main Kurdish party
, so perhaps Kurdish independence isn't really that far off.
