NFL draft
I was fairly happy with the Eagles' draft this year. They got a cat-quick DT from USC (Mike Patterson), a solid WR prospect (Reggie Brown), a quick LB prospect from San Diego State (Mike McCoy), and a possible starting RB (Ryan Moats) in case Brian Westbrook leaves eventually. On Sunday, they picked up a good S prospect (Sean Considine), three offensive line prospects, and another couple LB prospects. Throw in getting a couple of fourth round picks in next year's draft, and it was a pretty decent haul.
Something I noticed when flipping through the Sporting News draft issue: not one offensive line prospect listed was under 300 pounds. Not one. The three OL guys the Eagles drafted run 6'8" 305 lbs, 6'3" 312 lbs, and 6'7" 325 lbs. And these aren't immobile blobs, either; most of them have to have good feet and short-range quickness. Pretty amazing, when one thinks about it. Dancing bears...
