Apr. 16th, 2007 02:39 pm"Leak" of the upcoming changes to the English-translation of the RCC Mass. I like the attempt to be more true to the original - in this case, the revisions are correcting bad translations which were made in haste after Vatican II - but I don't know how well the congregations will react.
But, what the heck. They didn't ask our opinion when the Latin Mass was dumped, or when the altar rails were ripped out and the tabernacle shunted to the sides. Now that the shoe's on the other foot, I'm supposed to feel that the forty-year 'tradition' of the current Novus Ordo mass is inviolable?
Mind you, the Novus Ordo is all I've known for the most part, and it'll be uncomfortable initially to learn the new order of Mass, but there's enough familiar material left in there that most folks should have it down in a month or so, once the Bishops finally bite the bullet and allow the revisions to be issued.
