Yesterday Donna and I visited the California Poppy Reserve while we were out in Lancaster. With all the rain southern CA has been having, we hoped the desert flowers would still be out in full force.

As per the name, there were a great many clumps of poppies. They weren't all-encompassing, but there were still plenty out.

The predominant flower, especially on the north loop of the preserve, were these yellow flowers. They were in massive beds on both sides of the trail.

There were also lots of these pretty purple flowers around.

One of the better pictures I took, of a dry creek bed flanked by wildflowers. Interestingly, later on the trail was a running stream with algae growing in it; we're pretty sure it must have been spring-fed, since the area as a whole is pretty wind-swept and dry.
