We moved into the our house on Tuesday. Needless to say, things have been somewhat in chaos, but we've made a remarkable amount of headway, I think. There's still boxes in virtually all the rooms still, but much fewer than before. We've got cable TV, high speed internet, and full utilities (despite a visit by the gas company on Tuesday which resulted in us not having gas for about 6 hours, thanks to a mixup on their end). My Dad and I had some trouble getting our refrigerator to fit into the space theirs was taking - we ended up having to take out one cabinet and removing some floor border, but it made it. I just hope we don't have to take it out again anytime soon.

As I think I've mentioned before, there are a lot of little touches to the house that show it was lived in and well taken care of by the previous owners. Their interests were a good match with ours, I think, so that's helped a lot. The garden just needs someone around to look after it, which it hasn't had for over a year now. I haven't had a chance to make an inventory of all the stuff that's in the garage that the previous owner left, but there's quite a variety. In the shed I've found a chainsaw, gas mower, aluminum ladder, many different gardening implements, complete set for Quickrete, etc., just so far.

Some miscellaneous stuff, with pictures!:

* We have frogs living in our rain barrel. A couple of days ago I counted four in total, including one the size of my palm, but usually I can find only two squatting at the top of the tank. The other rain barrel doesn't have any, and the mosquito larvae count there is much higher. This weekend I drained the water from the latter, since I have more than enough in the one to provide all the H2O I need for our tomatoes and herbs.

I can say: catching a frog on the lawn who's jumped out of a rain barrel and doesn't want to be caught isn't as easy as it sounds.

* The apples on our apple tree are on their last legs, only a few left. Yesterday I went out to see if there were any left, and noted a few large (over 1" long) wasps on them, so decided I didn't want to try conclusions with them. Also, the squirrels are having a good time taking what apples are left. Guess I'll have to wait until next year's harvest to see what they taste like.

* A few weeks ago we went on a trip to Hershey, PA to see the Police in concert. We stayed overnight in Harrisburg. Here's a picture of me with the Nittany Lion at Penn State-Harrisburg (I'm alumni), and a pretty one of the front of the Bass Pro Shop in Harrisburg.

* My parents have a new kitten, an orange tabby they've named Carmel. Here's one of him just looking adorable, and another of him expressing his feelings at being photographed.
