...while looking for the website of an wetlands park in Las Vegas we visited a few years ago, I came across this: an apple, pear, and peach orchard in Las Vegas. If you've been there, you know: Vegas is pretty much in the middle of a desert valley, with a dry wind that sucks the moisture out of everything, and growing anything that isn't a succulent or cactus is a challenge. reviews of the place here. Also part of the place is a nature sanctuary.

Sounds like a possible destination next time we're in Vegas, would make a nice change after a couple days in the casinos.

Remember, Las Vegas originally existed because it was a place that had artisian wells. I know someone in her 70's whose grandmother started farming there ca. 1890 because it had water. I believe the place was somewhere around where Tropicana Ave is now.

Nice to hear there's still an orchard somewhere.
