Hey, Tom, I'm currently reading Steve Coll's Ghost Wars; it follows the CIA's involvement in Afghanistan from the Soviet invasion up to 9/10/01, and it has a lot to say about the ISI and why we're so in bed with the Pakistanis when it comes to Afghanistan. You might find it worth reading.
