Well, this by Jim Jubak was sufficiently depressing, going into some of the questions the public might be asking of Congress if the latter hadn't successfully distracted everyone by howling about the AIG bonuses.

XKCD response is true but irrelevant; he's clearly an engineer.

My tin-foil-hat cynicism has been whispering things like those that Jubak pointed out there, and goes back to my having remembered that people were alarmed that Gingrich was pushing So! Hard! to get the de-regulation through.

It's certainly larger than any casino heist starring Hollywood's prettiest male faces. Could it ever be tracked down and really exposed?
