The eyes have it
Dec. 1st, 2005 12:30 pm"What line can you read with your glasses off?"
"There's lines?"
The cleaner I use on my glasses has had the side effect of starting to burn away the non-scratch coating on the lenses, making for increasingly cloudy glass; time to replace them. My prescription from '02 had expired, so I went in for an eye exam at Lenscrafters yesterday. It was a less-unpleasant thing than I expected. The test I dread the most, the eye pressure one where they poke an instrument into your eye, has been replaced with one where they use blasts of air instead - hurrah!
My glaucoma tests were all good, I have no eye diseases, and my prescription has remained mostly stable for the past 5-6 years, which is good news. The doctor did see the faintest trace of clouding in the corner of my corneas, which she said is sometimes a long-term symptom for cataracts but is something I shouldn't worry about until down the line. She recommended I should take antioxidant vitamins more than I have, as a way to slow down the aging process. And I'll be able to reuse my current frames for the new lenses, which is also good news.
