Ice storm!

We've had a lot of ice here this week - work was dismissed 2 hours early on Tuesday night & was open 2 hours late yesterday (Wednesday). The company that runs the commuter bus I normally ride to work canceled all service, so I had to take the Jetta in - took me a half-hour to chop out and melt the car, there was a good 1/4" of ice enclosing it. We had a number of substantial branches come off the tree in front of our house under the weight of the ice. Nothing damaging to the house or cars, fortunately; I bought a hand saw at Lowes and will be cutting them into smaller pieces this weekend, probably.

Driving back from work was interesting, seeing all the trees down along the side of the road, driving in the left hand lane most of the way because the right lane was getting pelted with serious ice coming off the trees lining it, and hearing the tinkle-tinkle-tinkle of the iced trees swaying as the wind hit them.
