Christmas Cards to famous folks

As an experiment in mid-November I sent Christmas cards to Pope Benedict and President Bush, just to see what would happen. The White House sent a nice thank-you note back, and I have to say we were impressed with the signature replication machine they use - without knowing better it'd be hard to guess that 43 didn't sign them all himself. It would have been nice to have gotten the official White House card, but I assume I was either too late to make the list or needed to be a contributor.
A few days later we got another thank-you from the Apostolic Nunciature (Vatican embassy in Washington), along with a small blessing card which had the Pope's Christmas greeting in his Italian handwriting on the back. That was a little more impressive because I'd sent the card to Rome, so presumably they kept a list of who sent greetings from each country & forwarded that list to the respective Nunciature.
