George update, VW Jetta rant, etc.
Feb. 26th, 2007 08:25 amGeorge is still in the hospital. We went to see him yesterday and he was still pretty out of it. He's on meds to help him sleep, so he was at best 25% there while we were visiting, mumbling more than speaking. At least he recognized Donna. The mild-ish dementiadelirium which appears to have been triggered by his falls still seems to be present, which is worrying us both considerably. We won't know exactly what his real condition is until he's off the meds. He's supposed to be transferred to a rehab facility, probably at the same hospital, but there's no ETA on when that may be.
Our main auto, the Jetta, also started with its "check engine" light on Friday, as well as the speedometer stopped working (after being replaced in September when we bought the car). There's been too many little problems with this car - for example, we've had to have the rear brake lights worked on twice for burned-out bulbs, and VW made the access to them so difficult that just switching out the burned-out bulbs is a major operation. Also with their newer cars everything is connected electrically to everything else, so if one thing goes wrong it tends to cascade through the rest of the system. I'm never going to buy another VW again.
