tagrynInteresting point made by Belmont Club: the reason Islamists target journalists in Iraq and elsewhere is because the whole concept of journalism and the media is seen as an invention of the infidels.
Though, I'm usually quite cynical about how the media elevates to "Great Tragedy" level any time a Western journalist gets hurt or killed while on a war assignment, while if the same thing happens to a Iraqi journalist or any non journalist (i.e. 'not of the tribe') it isn't considered as important.
