Avoid Sears appliances

Sadly, it appears the old Sears reputation of being a great place to buy appliances is long gone. Here's a collection I put together of sites complaining about Sears failing to live up to their warranties. The worst part is the numerous complaints about a 2-3 week wait to get a technician out for the first service call; that's just terrible.

One of the cooking boards I frequent has lately been discussing Sears and Maytag being the worst of the current appliance crop. What used to be great is now... Signs of the times. They just don't make stuff like they used to. (Probably ever since the business magnates found out there was more profit in planned obsolescence than in quality construction, I would hazard to say.)
