Well, not so much that they don't "make sense", just that we don't understand them yet. It's things like this - and remembering that Piltdown Man was considered gospel for decades - that make me remember that a lot of scientific "facts" aren't, they're just our best understanding of reality given what we've been able to deduce so far.
