Freelance blogger/journalist killed in Iraq

Steven Vincent, blogger at In the Red Zone and author of the book by the same name, was assassinated in Iraq yesterday. Vincent, like Michael Yon, was one of the courageous journalists willing to venture beyond the Green Zone to try and find out what the story on the ground in Iraq actually is. I visited his blog from time to time, and it seems pretty likely that the widespread criminal element in Basra took him out for telling the truth once too many times, most recently in a New York Times editorial over the weekend.
