So yesterday the Phillies drafted 18 year old pitcher Kyle Drabek, son of former major leaguer Doug Drabek. Kyle D. was regarded as having the best arm in the draft, but slid to the Phils at #18 because of numerous off-field incidents, including a public intoxication charge and totaling a car in an accident (though he denies he was drunk at the time).

So, someone over at the Philaphans.com message board found Kyle Drabek's Myspace page. The thing that hits you from the moment the page loads is the background song, titled Let's Get F**ked Up. A selection from the lyrics:

Let's get f**ked up - Gimme a cup I'll drink till I throw up
Let's get f**ked up - Alcohol's my only friend
Let's do shots of tequilla
Tomorrow there's gonna be spots on the rug
Chug that glass of bourbon sour
I'll be puking in about an hour
B-A-C is 12 point 0 dude
Gimme the keys I'm ready to go
I ain't got sh*t to do in the morning
F**k the surgeon general's warning

Ah, to be young and stupid again. You'd think his agent would have told the kid he might want to change the song to something else, considering a lot of teams were concerned about whether his drinking was out of control...

Schwarzenegger = Bush
Angelides = Grey Davis

That's going to be pretty much the slant of the political ads, so might as well brace for it. Schwarzenegger has the advantage over Angelides in charisma, but Angelides has the advantage of running as a Democrat in a "blue" state. Arnold didn't have to go negative or spend a lot of his war chest in the primary, but neither does he have a definitive issue like the failed initiatives in '05 to pin on Angelides either. Both sides know where to go negative, though; all the issues with each have been exposed, Angelides during the primary and Schwarzenegger during the recall election.

I think Schwarzenegger will win in the end. Angelides has to figure out a way to not come across as shrill or unlikeable when going one-on-one with Arnold, and I just don't think he has it in him. He's also got the problem of reconciling with the Wesley voters, without whom he has no chance of winning.

Not that it really matters personally, since we're out of here in a couple of months anyway.
(then we get to be exposed to the workings of D.C. politics up close. Oh, joy.)
